Process management or business process management includes the conception, documentation, implementation, control and optimization of business processes (e.g. product development, order processing) in the company. Process management or business process management are synonyms for the term business process management. Business process management software coordinates dynamic business processes across functions.

In business process modeling, standardized modeling languages UML (Unified Modeling Language) are used to create activity diagrams. Business processes can be graphically represented in a diagram using process symbols (BPMN symbols), among other things.
