ANSYS Maxwell is a powerful and user-friendly simulation software for the two-dimensional and three-dimensional calculation and visualisation of low-frequency electric and magnetic fields. The models can be viewed in a simplified stationary or harmonic manner. However, a realistic transient view including the consideration of movements is also possible. The finite element method with automatic adaptive meshing is available for the calculation.
The software offers an intuitive user interface and supports data import from common ECAD and MCAD systems. A major advantage of the Maxwell software is the automated solution process. The user only has to worry about geometry, material properties, boundary conditions, excitations and output parameters. Other aspects are taken care of by the Maxwell software, in particular the mesh generation. The numerical parameters required for the simulation are specified automatically.
ANSYS Maxwell relies on an adaptive meshing method in which a coarse starting mesh is automatically generated and repeatedly refined locally in the areas of greatest solution error until a specified accuracy is achieved in the solution. This maximises user-friendliness for the development engineer.
