We are a medium-sized service provider in the construction industry (> 300 employees) and are looking for software to support resource management in the areas of demolition and civil engineering. We are looking for a planning tool for scheduling employees and machines or equipment.
It is particularly important to have an overview of which equipment is currently on which construction site—and also retrospectively—which equipment was on which construction site. In addition, there should be an interface with which equipment and employee costs can be “calculated” for the construction sites.
Requirements for personnel and staff scheduling:
- Clear differentiation of employees according to qualifications (possibly by color)
- Clear differentiation of equipment by type, size, and rental equipment (possibly by color)
- Relationship between employees and personal equipment
- Recording of vacation days
- Advance planning of which equipment will remain on the construction project (construction sites) and for how long
- Advance planning of which types and classes of equipment and which personnel will still be needed in the future
- Display of personnel and equipment changes -> What needs to be transported and when?
Requirements for the display of operating capacity and resource planning:
- Consideration of sick leave and vacation status
- Display of capacity utilization per equipment type or key equipment
- Total utilization of devices
- Notification in case of “critical planning” = device or personnel shortage
Additional requirements:
- Display and processing of employee locations and construction projects (construction sites) -> Who lives where, how far do they travel to the construction project (construction site)?
- Who can give whom a ride, e.g., in the following scenario: machine operator and construction assistant?
- Who has how many seats in their car or even has a car?
- Who can do what work: e.g., who can do not only demolition but also earthworks?
- Consideration of nuances in performance (the capabilities or preferences of employees) within the individual employee groups. (e.g., machine operator for 1st or 2nd row)
- Special qualifications of employees (asbestos certificate, Manitou training, etc.)
- Fixed teams of machine operators and construction assistants (e.g., father + son teams)
- Social factors, e.g., work close to home, reintegration, maximum number of hours (e.g., in the case of divorce), no Saturday work
- Employee preferences from the customer for repeat assignments
- Important: internal social relationships; not everyone gets along with everyone else. This can lead to major conflicts and thus to a drop in performance -> mapping of “no-go constellations”
Optional: In the logistics area, we are looking for a solution that links transport permits to a route planner and supports transport planning. Ideally, this functionality should be included in resource planning, but could also be provided by a separate solution.
Approximately 10 software workstations are planned.
