Program sought for documenting how-to guides for an application management team

We are a large, international IT company (trade and services) and are looking for a program for documenting HowTos (instructions) for an application management team at our German headquarters.

The software should meet the following requirements:

• Qualifiable search function
• Simple design, clarity
• Simple, manageable entry and editing of entries and documents
• Direct insertion of text and images into fields
• Checklist function
• Integration (copying) of links (external and internal to documents), URLs, and paths
• No “extra server” required! - Should run on-site
• Interactive: Determination of mandatory information, mandatory fields, and setting of default data
• Tree hierarchy
• Topic folders
• Hierarchical structuring

Basically, we need a simple tool for creating documentation/how-tos so that interactive operation (e.g., with selection buttons or similar) guides the uninformed user to the correct entry they need for the task at hand.

Five to ten software workstations are planned. Work will be carried out in an MS Windows system environment.
