As a management consultant, I am looking for a production planning and control system (PPS) for a company in the metal industry. Among other things, the company carries out surface pretreatment and surface coating on a production area of over 4,000 square meters.

The software should meet the following requirements:

  • Production planning – the scheduling and organizational planning of surface coating projects (currently done with MS Excel)
  • Mapping and support of 8 process steps – completion of one step, then moving on to the next step; digital clipboard, color coding of the individual process steps (currently done manually on clipboards)
  • Planning of loading and delivery or collection of the project
  • Mobile use via tablet (Android) within the factory halls would be practical
  • Overall, planning should become simpler, more digital, and clearer
  • Enable access for participating department heads
  • Simple solution, user-friendly
  • There is a tendency toward a cloud solution (in which case it should be hosted in Germany)

Eight software workstations are planned. MS Windows systems will be used.

Based on the specific requirements, the following solutions can be considered:

fi-square
TaxMetall - ERP • PPS
Opcenter APS
planeus – Digital Production Planning and Control
GANTTPLAN APS - optimization-based detailed planning/production control center
