Group seeks software for managing software dependencies

As an external consultant for a corporation, I am responsible for various IT matters in the IT department. The IT department manages approximately 200 different applications. Software is distributed via packaged software. The packaging is carried out by IT department employees. For packaging, it is important to know what dependencies exist between the software.

Example: Application A requires at least Java 7.2, application B requires Java 6.4, etc.

The software should meet the following requirements:

Data to be managed

• Entities: Product name, version number
• Relationships: [Product name]-[version number] is dependent on [product name]-[version number]

The [product name]-[version number] combination is used below as both a product and a dependency.

Analysis options / Possible questions

• What dependencies does a product have?
• Which products are affected by a specific dependency?
• = (equal to) Which products require exactly this dependency?
• > (greater than) Which products require at least this dependency?
• < (less than) Which products allow this dependency at most?
