Contract manufacturer (turning, milling, drilling) seeks production software (MES)

We are a renowned research and service organization and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and craft businesses in matters relating to digitalization. On behalf of a small manufacturing company in southern Germany (contract manufacturing – turning, milling, drilling), we are currently looking for digitalization options for their production with the aim of implementing them this year. The small company serves customers in the automotive and mechanical engineering sectors. Its machinery consists of six machines (turning and milling center, lathes, milling machines).

We have prepared a list of requirements for this company. The software does not necessarily have to meet all of the requirements listed below, but as many as possible. The requirements have been prioritized into three levels: “1 – very important,” “2 – important,” “3 – desired but not necessary.”

• should provide the operator with an overview of customer orders (order volume, delivery time, customer information) (1)
• should offer the operator the option of creating customer orders digitally (1)
• must be able to track the company's raw material orders and illustrate goods receipt and the status of raw materials in production (1)
• must be able to display the order status of customers (processing, delivery times, finished, etc.) (1)
• should offer the operator the option of creating machine allocation (capacity planning, utilization, processing time, delivery times) for orders (2)
• should offer the operator the option of creating shift planning for workers (2)
• must offer transparency in the workplace via mobile devices. The drawings (instructions), orders, and required tools must be displayed and tracked on a screen (1)
• must be able to send regular status reports regarding orders to the operator (3)
• enable the operator to digitally access and view key figures for cost accounting (3)
• enable digital post-calculation for the company (3)
• enable digital cost estimation for quotation preparation. Personnel costs, material costs, and fixed costs (electricity, etc.) should be taken into account in the cost estimate (3)
• Cost-effective
• Windows-compatible

Approximately seven software workstations are planned.
